The Grace Tee is a simple, classic raglan tee in stockinette stitch. The tee is knitted seamlessly in the round, from top to bottom. The neck and hem are worked in a 1x1 rib stitch. The hems of the sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch and folded double to the inside. German Short Rows are used to shape the shoulders and neckline. Stitches are bound off using the Italian bind off technique. To ensure that the neckline doesn’t stretch over time, you can sew in a thin elastic thread along the edge.
The pattern contains a ‘modification option’ for the body: you can choose to work the body straight or with some decreases to get a more tapered shape. It also contains 2 options to finish the hem of the body: a hem in 1x1 rib OR a folded hem.
The idea behind this design is to have a ‘basic’ tee for which you can use many different types of yarn, always with the same gauge of course. You can add stripes to create a different style. My striped samples are worked as follows (use them as an inspiration or get creative yourself):
Sample 1 (‘black’ and ‘muscat’) is worked as follows:
Start with 4 cm [1.5 inches] in MC 1 (muscat) followed by 3 cm [1.25 inches] of CC 1 (black) for the neck. Continue in CC 1 for the entire raglan up to 3 rounds before splitting the body & sleeves. Now change to MC 1 again. Knit a stripe of approx. 5 cm [2 inches]. Change to CC 1 and work a stripe of approx. 1 cm [0.5 inches]. Change to MC 1 and work a stripe of approx. 5 cm [2 inches]. Change to CC 1 and work a stripe of approx. 1 cm [0.5 inches]. Change to MC 1 for the rest of the body / sleeves.
But, this is just a suggestion of course :)
Sample 3 (‘sand’ and ‘lemon & lime’) is worked as follows:
Start with 4 cm [1.5 inches] in CC 1 (lemon & lime) followed by 3 cm [1.25 inches] of MC 1 (sand) for the neck. Yoke: continue in MC 1 for 24 rounds, work 3 rounds in CC 1, work 12 rounds in MC 1. Continue alternating 3 rounds in CC 1 and 12 rounds in MC 1 for the entire work. Folded hems are worked in MC 1).
The Grace Tee is an oversized tee with a positive ease of approx. 10 - 12 cm [4 - 4.75 inches] compared to the body bust circumference (pos. ease is for the straight version, not the modified version with decreases). The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL correspond to a bust circumference (of the body) of approx. 74 (84) 94 (104) 114 (124) 134 (144) 155 cm [29.25 (33) 37 (41) 45 (48.75) 52.75 (56.76) 61 inches] respectively. Keep in mind that the final measurements of the tee already take these extra 10 - 12 cm [4 - 4.75 inches] into account. Ease is a personal preference. Take the necessary measurements to determine the right size for you before you start knitting.

Gauge: 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches]:
26 sts x 36 rounds (after blocking) with needles 3 mm [US 2.5] in stockinette stitch in the round.
Needles:
Circular needles 3, 2.25 & 2 mm / cable lengths 40, 60 and/or 80, 100 cm [US 2.5, 1 & 0 / cable lengths 16, 24, and/or 32, 40 inches]
A tapestry needle.
All the given measurements in the instructions are based on the blocked gauge! Take this into account when trying on your garment (especially when the yarn you are using tends to grow much with blocking).
Suggested yarn: for a SOLID COLOUR version:
‘Lima’ from LAMANA (50 g - 200 m)
250 (250) 300 (300-350) 350 (400) 400 (450) g
OR
‘Linea’ from WALK Collection (100 g - 400 m)
200 (200-300) 300 (300) 300-400 (400) 400 (400-500) g
NOTE with suggested yarn:
The quantities provided are for a SOLID COLOUR version (similar to sample 2). If you decide to create a striped version (similar to samples 1 and 3), please consider the following proportions (and always account for a little extra of the main color):
- Sample 1 (Lima): you need 40% of the total quantity for the contrasting colour (black in this case), and 60% for the main colour (muscat in this case).
For example: for a size S, this results in 100 g of CC & 150 g of MC, + 1 extra skein of the MC = 200 g)
- Sample 3 (Linea): you need 30% of the total quantity for the contrasting colour (lemon & lime in this case) and 70% for the main colour (sand).
For example: for a size S, this results in 60 g of CC & 140 g of MC > 1 skein of 100 g for the CC and 2 skeins of 100 g for the MC))
Samples as shown in photos:
- Sample 1 (Size S) - striped version: ‘Lima’ in the colours ‘01’ (black) & ‘47’ (muscat) from LAMANA.(I used a bit more than 3 skeins of the Muscat and 2 full skeins of the black colour).
- Sample 2 (Size S) with modification option: ‘Lima’ in the colour ‘03’ (silk grey) from LAMANA.
- Sample 3 (Size S) with modification option: ‘Linea’ from WALK Collection (100 g - 400 m) in the colours ‘Sand’ and ‘Lemon & Lime’.(I used 61 g of lemon & lime’ and 141 g of ‘sand’).
